How to Write Better Copy – Instantly!

Want to start writing better copy – instantly?
Then perhaps you need to throw out your computer and pick up a pen.

This insight comes from writing teacher Shari Wilson.

She noticed that her student’s writing transitions,  flow and idea sequencing was better on handwritten in-class essays over those they worked on outside of class with a computer.

It’s a fascinating article. Be sure not just to read the article, but the pro and con debate in the comments.

I personally believe that the difference was in the “timed” aspect of the writing. The students were forced by a time constraint to write fast and furiously.

Copywriter Peter Stone puts it this way, “Write fearlessly, edit ruthlessly.”

Eugene Swartz used his famous kitchen timer set to burst of 33:33.

Bob Serling goes further and says to throw your pen away. His preferred method is to speak his copy and reports into a recorder and have them transcribed.

Jay Abraham would stun audiences when he would spontaneously dictate a sales letter for a seminar attendee from stage.

So, is it time to toss your computer and improve your writing?

Thanks Morty…

I’ve actually got quite a bit of Luddite in me – I sketch many of these post out by hand.
